is one of the finest golf courses in the Greater Manchester area.
This par 71 parkland course measures 6412 yards and is situated
on the edge of the Derbyshire hills. Designed in the traditional
two loops of nine holes finishing at the Clubhouse the course
provides a good test of golf with a number of outstanding holes.
The 6th is a testing par 4
dog-leg which requires an accurate drive followed by a testing
approach shot over a deep valley to an elevated green. On the
back nine there is the picturesque 14th
where having played from an elevated tee your approach shot to
the green is over a pond which is a profusion of water lilies
in the summer. From the tee of the par 4 16th
can be seen the magnificent view over the Cheshire plain, on a
clear day. The 2nd, 5th,
11th and 15th
are all excellent par 3's requiring imagination and skill while
the remainder of the course is never anything but idyllic and
challenging.
